Renée DeBérry is currently an independent trainer, instructor and consultant.
Her previous position was as the Director of Provider Resources at Illinois Action for Children. In this capacity, she recruits, hires & supervises department staff, oversee subcontract partnerships, manage required records, ensure compliance with legal, contractual and auditing requirements, prepare departmental budgets, monitor expenditures and assess fiscal needs, and coordinate program auditing.
Prior to her promotion to Director, she was the Assistant Director of Quality Improvement for Illinois MOST, a program of Action for Children, where her accountabilities included increasing the quality and quantity of school-age programs. She was responsible for quality & facility improvement efforts, quality enhancement grant process, conducting workshops and community outreach.
She has educated school-age practitioners and administrators as an instructor at Harold Washington College Chicago for school-age development courses required for an A.A. degree in school-age childcare.
Renée is the Vice President of the Black Child Development Institute – Chicago Affiliate Board, a member of the Illinois AfterSchool Network and serves on the Leadership Committee of the Illinois School Age and Youth Development Credential.
Renée holds a Masters degree in Education from Loyola University Chicago. She has been involved with children for many years and prior to her current position, she was an After School Program Director, Children’s Library Associate and a “Therapy” Therapist and Consultant.
