Summer Seminar FAQ

When I register for Summer Seminars, am I automatically registered for all five days of training?

No. Each seminar lasts for one or two days and you may register for one, two or three seminars.

Who attends NIOST Summer Seminars?

Afterschool directors, curriculum and education coordinators, state and municipal officials, intermediaries and community leaders, technical advisors, consultants, supervisors, practitioners and more.

Summer Seminar participants come from all over the country, including Nevada, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, California, New York, Minnesota, Montana, Vermont, Maryland, Missouri, Texas, Connecticut, Kansas, Florida, Louisiana, Ohio, and Massachusetts and more.


What is the application process?

Participants complete an online registration form and submit payment by credit card, check or purchase order. We request a brief biography (1-2 pargaraphs) or resume that we can share with the trainers to enable them to better serve their audience. Are the NIOST Summer Seminars an annual event? Since when? When are they typically held?

Yes. Our NIOST Summer Seminars are an annual event. While the dates fluctuate slightly, they always take place in July, usually in the second or third week of July. NIOST's annual Summer Seminars have been held for more than 20 years!

Do you award a certificate upon completion of each two-day seminar?

Yes. Upon completion of each two-day seminar a personalized certificate is awarded.

Are meals included in the price of registration?

Continental breakfast, a fantastic lunch, snacks and beverages throughout the day are included in the price of registration. Dinner is not included; however, group dinner options will be available on two evenings.

Does registration cover lodging and travel expenses?

No, participants are responsible for the cost of travel and lodging. Discounted hotel rooms are available to our seminar participants at the nearby Hotel 140 and the Boston Common Hotel & Conference Center, and there are several other hotels nearby. How do I get to the Summer Seminars location?

Directions to the Boston Common Hotel & Conference Center (formerly the John Hancock Hotel & Conference Center.)

Directions to the Wellesley College Club. NIOST will arrange shuttle service from the Wellesley train station to the Wellesley College Club
