Rénee DeBérry
National Training Associate

 

Renée DeBérry is the Assistant Director of Resource Development at Action for Children in Illinois. In this capacity, she develops and manages systems through partnerships to provide resource development, program accreditation, conferences, trainings and administers a county-wide quality enhancement grant process.

She was previously the Assistant Director of Quality Improvement for Illinois MOST, a program of Action for Children, where her accountabilities included increasing the quality and quantity of school-age programs. She was responsible for the quality & facility improvement efforts, grant processes, coordinating and conducting workshops and community outreach.

Renée is also an Education and Training Associate for the National Institute on Out-Of-School Time at the Center for Research on Women at Wellesley College, a national action-research project which provides technical assistance, consultation, and specialized training to schools and other educational organizations throughout the United States.

She is an instructor of a school-age development course required for an A.A. degree in school-age childcare. This course introduces the students to the principles and developmentally appropriate practices of school-age care.

Renée is an executive board member and chair of professional development on the Illinois AfterSchool Network, the National After School Association state affiliate organization. As a member of IAN, her goal is to provide leadership at the regional level in an effort to increase the quantity, quality and public awareness of school-age childcare.

Renée holds a Masters degree in Education for Loyola University Chicago. She has been involved with children for many years and prior to her current position, she was a Program Director for a church-based site, a Children's Librarian for the City of Chicago and a Mental Health Consultant/Therapist.
