From Out-of-School to Outer Space:  Exploring the Solar System with NASA

Ongoing since 2008

Project Director: Georgia Hall

NIOST is conducting an Evaluation of a new afterschool program curriculum, “From Out-of-School to Outer Space: Exploring the Solar System with NASA,” which was developed by NASA. The focus of the “From Out-of-School to Outer Space” project is to increase science literacy and encourage interest in science-related educational opportunities. For the success of the project, the trainers need to be prepared to deliver solar system related content and to communicate key NASA related concepts.

NIOST is providing evaluation services to support all phases of the “From Out-of-School to Outer Space” project over the next several years. In addition to evaluating the adaptation of activity guides for elementary school-age out-of-school time settings, NIOST evaluates workshops to train out-of-school time personnel to implement the activity guides and to make them accessible to all out-of-school time learners.
