Summer Seminar FAQ

The Summer Seminar dates are July 12-15th. Does that mean when I register, I'm automatically registered for all 4 days of training?
No. Each seminar lasts 2 days and you may register for one or two seminars.

Who attends NIOST Summer Seminars?
Afterschool Directors, Curriculum & Education Coordinators, State & Municipal Officials, Intermediaries & Community Leaders, Technical Advisors, Consultants, Supervisors and Practitioners and more.

Our Summer Seminar 2008 participants came from all over the country, including Nevada, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, California, New York, Minnesota, Montana, Vermont, Maryland, Missouri, Texas, Connecticut, Kansas, Florida, Louisiana, Ohio, and Massachusetts and more.

What is the application process?

Participants complete an on-line registration form, submit payment either by credit card, check or p.o. We request a brief biography (1-2 pargaraphs) or resume that we can share with the trainers to enable them to better serve their audience. Are the NIOST Summer Seminars an annual event? Since when? When are they typically held?

Yes. Our NIOST Summer Seminars are an annual event. While the dates fluctuate slightly, they always take place in July (typically, the 2nd or 3rd week in July). NIOST's annual Summer Seminars have been held more than 20 years!

Do you award a personalized certificate upon completion of each two-day seminar?

Yes. Upon completion of each 2-day seminar a certificate is awarded.

Are meals included in the price of registration?
Continental breakfast, a fantastic lunch, snacks and beverages throughout the day are included in the price of registration. Dinner is not included – however group dinner options will be available 2 of the 4 evenings.

Does registration cover lodging and travel expenses?
No, participants are responsible for the cost of travel and lodging. Discounted hotel rooms are available to our seminar participants at the Hotel 140 and the John Hancock Hotel. The John Hancock Hotel is conveniently situated at the conference center, but it's an older hotel and some rooms have not been renovated for some time. Keep this in mind when planning your stay. To take advantage of the special rate make your reservations early and tell the hotel you are attending NIOST Summer Seminars.
