John Hancock Conference Center Directions from Logan AirportWe do not recommend renting a car and attempting to drive in Boston. It is a difficult city to navigate under the best of circumstances. But, if you must: ask the car rental firm for "today’s" directions to Copley Square (specifically Stuart Street, between Clarendon and Dartmouth). See the sheet with directions to the John Hancock Conference Center parking garage. Boston is four miles southwest of Logan airport, and you will take the Sumner Tunnel to the city. Journey time to downtown Boston is 10-15 minutes, if traffic is moving.

Orange Line or Commuter Rail to Back Bay Station
Green Line to Copley Station Information about the Boston TThe Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority—-known as the "T" in Boston—-is very easy to navigate. A ride costs $2.00. Some stations are very close together and walking the distance is often quicker and more pleasant. There are basically four downtown lines: the Orange, Green, Red, and Blue (the purple "Commuter Rail" goes to the outer neighborhoods and suburbs.) When traveling on the T, remember that Inbound is always toward downtown Boston, and Outbound is away from it. In the subway system, Inbound is toward four stations: Park Street, State, Downtown Crossing and Government Center. (Within those four stations, Inbound and Outbound are not used.) If you find yourself on a train going the wrong direction, simply get off at the next stop and cross over to the other side to catch one going in the opposite direction. (Note: you cannot crossover for free at Copley station or when you are traveling on an above ground trolley.) Tickets, known as CharlieTickets, can be purchased in each station at a booth or from a machine. You can put the value of one or more T rides on the ticket, and the appropriate value is deducted each time you ride. Once on board the train, you can transfer to different lines and change direction without paying extra as long as you do not exit the station. |
