Coaching Training

Why is coaching in afterschool programs so important? Coaching teaches skills in a non-threatening, easy to understand, hands-on manner that encourages team and relationship building. This in turn helps programs create a shared vision and a common language. Within this context, those who work together can better manage programs and face challenges.

Goals of Training:
  • Develop a learning community where those who wear multiple “hats” can both supervise and be a trusted colleague.
  • Create better communication practices among staff, youth, managers, parents and other community partners.
  • Build leaders and managers.
Targeted Audience:
  • Programs initiating system-wide activities such as assessment and outcome evaluation or connections with schools.
  • Programs having difficulty retaining staff or youth.
  • Supervisors or managers who want to grow while on-the-job.
  • Individuals who have attended Quality Advisor training who want to further their coaching skills.
