Fit body. Fit brain.
|
It’s been called Miracle-Gro® for the brain by Harvard medical school
professor and clinical psychologist John Ratey. It’s BDNF, or
brain-derived neurotrophic factor, a chemical that fuels almost all
brain activities that lead to higher thought. Research shows that high
levels of BDNF cause brain cells to branch out, link together, and
communicate in new ways—the process that leads to learning.

Obamas Expand Fitness Council’s Mission
|
Somehow it feels wrong to say that the President’s Council on
Physical Fitness and Sports has “broadened” its mission when the whole
point is to help Americans become more fit. But, in fact, the council has an expanded mission that includes
healthy eating and a longer name to reflect that. It’s now the President’s Council on Physical Fitness,
Sports and Nutrition.
