 | Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) has focused on the economic problems of low-income families with children and securing access to civil legal assistance for low-income persons since 1982. The Child Care Bureau was established in the Administration for Children and Families, Department of Health and Human Services, in January 1995, to administer federal child care programs to states, territories, and tribes for low-income children and families. The Bureau has initiated a variety of activities to improve the quality, availability, and affordability of child care across the country. Among those activities is the sponsorship of the National Child Care Information Center. The Child Care Bureau administers the Child Care and Development Fund program and provides technical assistance to the nation on a variety of topics related to child care. Children Now, recognized nationally for its policy expertise and up-to-date information on the status of children, is a nonpartisan, independent voice for children which works to translate the nation's commitment to children and families into action. The Children's Defense Fund works to educate the nation about the needs of children and encourage preventive investment in children. In addition to fantastic projects and publications, the Children's Defense Fund Update E-mail Network is available to child advocates, policymakers, community leaders, service providers, religious leaders, and others interested in receiving regular updates and information on children's issues via e-mail. The Massachusetts Campaign for Children is a non-partisan, statewide public information, education and mobilization project that aims to elevate children's issues to the top of the public agenda. New England Workforce Partners is a joint endeavor by the six New England states (CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, VT) to address the difficulty of attracting and retaining qualified staff to care for children. NEW Partners share experiences, knowledge, research and data to collectively tackle this issue. NEW Partners will create a model for regional data collection and analysis that can be used to better inform policy makers, providers, parents and researchers - ultimately improving the quality of care young children receive. Prevention First, Inc. has roots in alcohol and other drug abuse prevention. However, the organization's programs have expanded to promote health care reform across a broad spectrum of concerns. Quilt: Quality in Linking Together: Early Education Partnerships is a national training and technical assistance project funded by the federal Head Start and Child Care Bureaus. Its purpose is to support full-day, full-year partnerships among child care, Head Start, prekindergarten, and other early education programs at the local, state, tribal, territorial, and regional levels. Stand For Children is a national organization helping grassroots children's activists build Children's Action Teams, which improve children's lives through successful policy change, awareness-raising, and service initiatives. was the largest and most uplifting public demonstration for children in American history. USA Child Care unites providers as a leading force in the future direction and accessibility of quality, affordable child care for low and moderate-income families; represents and works with active statewide organizations of providers across the country to ensure they are informed and engaged; and is an active advocate that provides expertise to legislators and policy makers about how to develop a system of high-quality child care. |  |
