  • FRAC's Summer Meals Matter — Evaluating and Recognizing Quality Summer Nutrition Programs, Thursday, August 4, 1 p.m. ET. Learn from sponsors and anti-hunger advocates about ways to evaluate the Summer Nutrition Program sites in your area, identify high-quality sites, recognize them for their work, and identify areas for improvement for the following year.
  • Share Our Strength Webinar: Start the School Year Right With Innovative Approaches to Afterschool Meals, Tuesday, August 9, 2 p.m. ET. This webinar, in partnership with Tyson Foods, Inc., will cover new data analysis on afterschool meals as well as practices to implement a strong Afterschool Meals Program. You will also hear from school nutrition directors with experience running the Afterschool Meal Program.

Policy and Politics 

  • The Food Research and Action Center suggests organizing a summer meals site visit for your members of Congress.
  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced four final rules that implement provisions of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. The rules will ensure that children have access to healthy snacks and that nutrition standards for the foods marketed and served in schools are consistent, and will promote integrity across school meals programs.
